“Easy does it, easy does it, easy while you wait.”-Supertramp

Easy does it. Relax. Lighten up. I regularly need to remind myself of these simple concepts.

I’m reminded of another song that succinctly and memorably illustrates these ideas. Yes, I realize the following is not rock and roll, but it makes a point: “Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream.” What the song does not say is just as important as what it does say. It does not say struggle, struggle, struggle your ass off rowing up the stream.

Observe nature. Grass doesn’t struggle to grow, fruit doesn’t struggle to ripen, and tree branches don’t do battle with each other. Only human beings have learned to struggle. And there is considerable evidence that we have mastered the art of struggling.

There’s a wonderful lesson in nature for us. Life was never meant to be a struggle. Easy does it.
