A few Rock & Roll History items of note for October 27th.

1949: Gary Tallent, the bass player for Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, was born. We’re looking forward to seeing Gary and The Boss perform Born to Run live next month.

1962: The Rolling Stones made their first recordings in London, covering American blues songs from Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley. Unfortunately, these initial recordings didn’t yield a record deal.

1969: The Beatles’ Abbey Road album was certified gold. This is another of my Desert Island Discs.

1975: Bruce Springsteen was featured on the covers of both Time and Newsweek. Ironically, this was before The Boss even had a hit song or album. Could that really have been 34 years ago?!?!?
