Let’s take a look at some notable happenings on this date in Rock & Roll:

1962: The Godfather of Soul, James Brown, recorded his classic soul album “Live at the Apollo.”

1975: John Lennon’s album Shaved Fish was released. Another Desert Island Disc, this was the only compilation of Lennon’s solo hits that was released during his lifetime.

1979: Paul McCartney was honored by the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling songwriter and recording artist in music history. That is certainly an incredible honor.

1996: Berry Gordy, the genius behind Motown, was honored with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.
