Elvis Costello: Rock & Roll History
Submitted by Rock and Roll Guru Blog
August 24, 1954: Elvis Costello was born Declan Patrick MacManus.
Elvis Costello is an intense singer-songwriter who helped usher in the New Wave of rock & roll in the late 1970’s.
I remember seeing Elvis for the first time on Saturday Night Live in 1977. Sporting Elvis Presley’s first name and Buddy Holly’s glasses, he absolutely blew us away with his performance.
Elvis has been through many incarnations, but my favorite remains his kick-it-out rock & roll. A few of his albums are on my list of Desert Island Discs, including My Aim is True, Armed Forces and Get Happy!!
It was a treat to see Elvis again last month at Summerfest, where he delivered a killer set.
Led Zep, the Stones and The Who are just some of our favorites. Any modern bands come to mind? What are your thoughts? Register on Rock and Roll Blog now and get published within minutes. Before posting, it is recommended that you review our posting guidelines.
