This news shocks and saddens me. Apparently he had a heart attack. I know some people don’t like him, but I have always liked his muisc and think he’s one of the most entertaining performers ever. Sad.
I saw him on the “Bad” tour and was mesmerized by his dancing and [...]

Jeff Beck: Rock & Roll Quote

Submitted by Rock and Roll Guru Blog

“I don’t care about the rules. In fact, if I don’t break the rules at least 10 times in every song then I’m not doing my job properly.”-Jeff Beck
As someone who firmly believes in breaking the rules, I love this quote.
Happy Birthday, Jeff!

Meat Loaf: Rock & Roll Wisdom

Submitted by Rock and Roll Guru Blog
“Two out of three ain’t bad.”-Meatloaf
This song lends itself to a fun little lesson in perspective.
Two out of three can be spectacular, mediocre, or as pathetic as a blues singer showing up at your door when he has writer’s block, depending on your perspective.
For example, two out of three [...]

George Harrison “Let it Roll”

Submitted by Layla’s Classic Rock Blog

I received this for review last week and have listened to it over and over since then. In my opinion George’s music (from his solo career) was often overlooked because of the huge shadow his former bandmates cast over all he did. Kind of hard to be compete with “Lennon [...]

Jefferson Airplane: Rock & Roll Wisdom

Submitted by Rock and Roll Guru Blog

“We are forces of chaos and anarchy…”-Jefferson Airplane
How cool is that? What a great excuse to cut loose and have some kick-ass fun!
A little chaos and anarchy jolts us out of our comfort zones and ignites our creative juices.
It is incumbent upon us to take this responsibility seriously by [...]

What is this song really about?

Submitted by Layla’s Classic Rock Blog

I was listening to a song by U2 today and remembered reading what Bono said the song was about. But I’ve heard other people explain their ideas on what he was talking about when he wrote it.
The true inspiration for song lyrics are often argued by the listener, and really, [...]

Richie Furay - Part Two: The Interview

Submitted by Bloggerhythms Blog

No, this blog is not turning into all Poco all the time. It’s totally coincidental that June, with three posts related to this veteran country-rock band, has turned into Poco month. July will offer something completely different and more contemporary.

In the meantime, as promised last week, Poco’s former leader and founder, Richie [...]

This was fun:

I took this off Facebook where my buddy Pete had tagged me. What you do is, using only song names from ONE ARTIST, answer these questions. Try not to repeat a song title.
Since Pete already used my favorite artist, I will use a different one.

Eric Clapton: Rock & Roll Wisdom

Submitted by Rock and Roll Guru Blog
“Let it blossom, let it flow.”-Eric Clapton
Notice that Slowhand said “let it blossom, let it flow.” He did not say make it blossom or force it to flow.
Most of us need to get out of that ridiculous motivational speaker mindset that we need to make everything happen. We need [...]
