The Radiators at B.B. King’s Blues Club in NYC

I was absolutely thrilled when I learned that The Radiators would be at B.B. King’s Blues Club during my weekend in the Big Apple. In a strange quirk of timing and scheduling, this was the first opportunity I’ve had to catch this legendary New Orleans band live and in person….and they knocked my socks off!

George Thorogood and the Destroyers bill themselves as The World’s Greatest Bar Band, but I think The Radz could make a strong case for that title. An all-American swamp rock band combined with a little bit of good old southern fried jam and a touch of the blues, these cats have been delivering their unique blend of Fish Head Music to adoring audiences over a career that has spanned more than 43oo shows. Amazingly, the original lineup is still intact and going strong thirty-one years later.

While they may not exactly be a jam band, The Radiators possess the jam band sensibilities that I so love and crave. And jam they did, for a grateful crowd of more than 900 enthusiastic and grateful Fish Heads. Two roaring sets had us boppin’ all night, and there were smiles all around as we headed back out into Times Square on this gorgeous Friday night.

I look forward to seeing The Radz again this summer when they come to Milwaukee, and we’re planning to get together  for a sit-down when I’ll do a feature on these Louisiana legends.

Two grate nights at B.B. King’s club…what more could the Rock and Roll Guru ask for?
