Ramones: Rock & Roll History
Submitted by Rock and Roll Guru Blog
March 30, 1974: The Ramones played the first of their 2,263 concerts at the Performance Studio in New York City.
Three chord frenzy. That’s the way I’ve always described the Ramones, and nobody did it better.
Unfortunately, the Ramones were never really a hit commercially, but they were hugely significant as they ushered in the punk rock movement in the mid-70’s with a whole bunch of intense and catchy two-minute songs.
I can’t help but chuckle when I realize this was thirty-five years ago, because I still think of the Ramones as newer music.
Led Zep, the Stones and The Who are just some of our favorites. Any modern bands come to mind? What are your thoughts? Register on Rock and Roll Blog now and get published within minutes. Before posting, it is recommended that you review our posting guidelines.
