March 30, 1945: Eric Clapton was born.

Clapton is one of our greatest living guitar players, and has been for more than four decades.

Slowhand, as he is known, is the only person to have been inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times.

From John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers to The Yardbirds to Cream to Blind Faith to Derek and the Dominos and a stellar solo career, Clapton is a guitar god. Still going strong, EC recently played with both Jeff Beck and the Allman Brothers, and this June he’s heading out with Steve Winwood on a month-long tour.

Fortunately, I have tickets to their Chicago show on June 17th.
