March 28, 1967: Van Morrison recorded “Brown Eyed Girl.”

“Brown Eyed Girl” was the song that launched Van Morrison’s solo career after leaving the band Them, and it remains a staple on classic rock and oldies radio stations.

I’ve been listening to Van quite a bit lately, and the stuff he did forty years ago still feels fresh to me…particularly Astral Weeks. I would have loved to have seen him perform that album live, as he did recently.
