Pretenders: After the Show…Part One
Submitted by Rock and Roll Guru Blog
Let me preface this with I am NOT a groupie, autograph hound or stalker. I rarely stick around after a concert with the hordes who hope to catch a glimpse of their favorite rock star. It’s just not my style.
However, I always trust my intuition, and my intuition told me to hang around after the Pretenders show Wednesday night. Good thing I did.
About an hour after the show Martin Chambers came out and chatted for quite a while. What a treat to visit with the legendary drummer and the only remaining original Pretender besides Chrissy. Martin is tremendously engaging and clearly having a ton of fun on the current tour. We talked about everything from my first Pretenders show in 1980 to his upcoming plans, which are way, way cool.
Martin will be playing in London at the Hammersmith Odeon the first four days in October with Mott the Hoople! Needless to say, he was pretty stoked about that…and I’m already thinking about how I can arrange my schedule to be there.
Led Zep, the Stones and The Who are just some of our favorites. Any modern bands come to mind? What are your thoughts? Register on Rock and Roll Blog now and get published within minutes. Before posting, it is recommended that you review our posting guidelines.
