Delaney Bramlett 1939 - 2008
Submitted by MusicRamble Blog
Unfortunately we have to add another great musician and songwriter to the list of those we’ve lost this year. Delaney Bramlett died on December 27th after suffering ill health for months. Bramlett is best known for co-writing the hit song “Superstar” with his wife Bonnie (in 1969) and Leon Russell.
His band Delaney & Bonnie and Friends was also well known for performing, recording, writing and touring with many other groups of the early seventies, such as Blind Faith, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and Joe Cocker. Bramlett is also noted for teaching Clapton how to sing and Harrison how to play slide guitar.
Other songwriting credits include “Let It Rain” and “Never Ending Song of Love.”
He is survived by his wife Susan Lanier-Bramlett, who has posted a touching farewell on their official website delaneybramlett.com
Led Zep, the Stones and The Who are just some of our favorites. Any modern bands come to mind? What are your thoughts? Register on Rock and Roll Blog now and get published within minutes. Before posting, it is recommended that you review our posting guidelines.
